Nestled in the vibrant heart of Asbury Park, Talula’s offers an exceptional pizza dining experience that perfectly blends creative flavors with a lively, inviting atmosphere. This standout pizza restaurant at 550 Cookman Ave is a haven for those who crave woodfired pies crafted with fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients and a touch of culinary flair.
Talula’s menu is a delightful exploration of inventive takes on classic and modern pizza varieties. One cannot miss the rich, creamy Burrata and Pepperoni pizza, which beautifully balances the softness of burrata cheese with the savory snap of pepperoni. For plant-based diners, the Pesty Vegan Pizza and the Vegan Caesar kale salad — a vibrant mix of preserved lemons, fried capers, and cashew parm — showcase Talula’s commitment to hearty, imaginative vegan options that don’t compromise on flavor. Meat lovers will appreciate the hearty Al Pastor and the now fondly missed Meatball Bowl, while side salads like the Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad add a refreshing crunch and a sweet-savory dimension with kale, fuyu persimmons, currants, and pecans, dressed in a maple mustard dressing.
When it comes to desserts, Talula’s truly shines as well. Indulgent options such as the Date Cake drizzled with butterscotch sauce and vanilla whipped cream, or the Black Bottom Tahini Cream Pie with its luscious tahini and chocolate mousse paired with salted caramel, linger on the palate in the best possible way. The Rosemary Cherry Tres Leches — a milk-soaked olive oil sponge cake topped with mascarpone whip and fresh rosemary cherries — is a sublime ending to any meal.
The atmosphere at Talula’s radiates the quintessential Asbury Park vibe: warm, cozy, yet buzzing with lively energy perfect for small to medium groups. It’s a fantastic place for friends or family eager to enjoy not just a meal but a memorable social experience. Customers like Sa’id Kharboutli praise the “awesome vibes” and attentive service, while Rin Nadolny highlights the combination of a welcoming ambiance with impeccable woodfired pizzas. The spot’s energetic vibe, paired with great service and a menu that caters to diverse tastes, makes every visit feel special.
While some guests, such as KGQ NYC, found a few dishes like the Rocket Pizza a bit underwhelming or noted the vegan Caesar salad’s unique flavor profile, these minor critiques are easily overshadowed by the overall freshness and quality of the food served. Aria Cruz’s wish for a crisper pizza base is a reminder that Talula’s consistently seeks to refine its offerings and deliver top-tier experiences.
Whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch highlighted by their famously perfect turkey sandwich or enjoying cocktails like the Espresso Martini or Gin and Jam alongside your meal, Talula’s crafts each visit into an occasion. The balance of sophisticated yet approachable dishes, paired with a warm and spirited atmosphere, makes Talula’s not just a restaurant but a must-visit culinary destination in Asbury Park.
Great spot to hit with a small or medium group size especially. Awesome pizzas, awesome vibes, and great service. The prices might be just a tad north of “fair”, but not so crazy it would knock a star off. Last I went I got the (now discontinued, sadly) Meat Lovers and my girlfriend got the Margarita. The Beekeepers Lament was my runner up, and I hope to try that next time around. Pizza was solid, as expected. My girlfriend and I both got salads as well, though those didn’t do as well. The flavors were awesome and the vegetables used were also solid mixes but for some reason both of our salads were excessively “salty”. Not sure what happened there.
Absolutely love Talula’s! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with that perfect Asbury Park vibe — cozy, lively, and always full of great energy. The food is incredible — their wood-fired pizzas are out of this world, and the ingredients are always super fresh. The staff is friendly and attentive, and you can tell they care about the experience. Whether you’re stopping in for brunch, dinner, or just a drink, it never disappoints. Definitely one of my favorite spots in town!
We had heard a lot about Talula’s and gave it a try. The food was good but not as good as we thought it would be given how hard it is to get a reservation. Everything was fresh and well prepared but the rocket pizza was a bit flavorless and the vegan Caesar salad has some strange flavors. Otherwise it’s a fun place, loud and vibrant with plenty of big parties.
Quickly became a favorites. It's a great lunch spot, and if you appreciate a good deal, their happy hour is even better! I tried their classic turkey sandwich, and it was absolutely perfect – layered beautifully and flavored impeccably from the first bite to the last, -loved the bread! (See photo) Their pizzas are also a highlight. Each slice is loaded with flavor, boasting a wonderfully thin and crunchy crust. I love the flexibility of being able to grab just a slice for a quick bite or a whole pie to share (or not!). Highly recommend Tulula's for anyone looking for a delicious and well-priced meal in Asbury Park!
Food was fresh and delicious. Well seasoned although I would say the vegan Caesar salad was a bit salty. We ordered the elote pizza half with fennel sausage. I would order it again. My only wish is the pizza was a bit more crisp underneath. I would come to this restaurant again :)
Wowowowowowowow This place is epic and i loved it for years. Service is hit or miss. I have had great people and this visit wasn’t the best lmao the girl was giving zerooooo energy and was not helpful at all. Barely gave us any water and when I asked to pack up the leftovers she just hands me a huge amount of boxes and just left? Like okay at least help me clear the area lol. Kale caesar was great but was not very caesar like but absolutely delicious. Needs more dressing but once added it was incredible!!! The pizzas were the bombbbbbb amazing as always Baked ziti was interesting, needs more sauce but was delicious !!! Sangria was good but needs more flavahhh…. But still good
